Suite of four drawings representing Emperor Napoleon I at Saint Helena signed Nicolas Toussaint Charlet (1792-1845). The four scenes are annotated as follows: - "The Emperor complaining to the Grand Marshal General Gourgaud about the insults that Hudson Low makes him endure" - "Last Moments of the Emperor (May 5, 1821) - "Hudson Low coming to assure himself that the Emperor is indeed dead" - "Tomb of the Emperor at Saint Helena" These drawings of great finesse are the work of Nicolas Toussaint Charlet, a fervent supporter of the Empire, he was a student of Gros.
