"Green Glazed Earth Consciousness"
Conscience, glazed earthenware, probably from Meynes, late 19th century, 41 cm high, 25 cm in diameter at the widest point, diameter at the base 17.5 cm. Made around 1850 in Aubagne, but also in Biot, Salernes or in the Gard, consciences were used to store and transport olive oil. Depending on the version, these pottery was either given to workers at the end of the olive harvest once filled with olive oil or this object was given to beggars who passed through the villages.
