"Kiss Of Peace, Silver-plated Bronze, Italy, 16th Century."
Beautiful kiss of peace in silvered bronze (or perhaps formerly gilded?), representing the head of Christ, in profile, facing left. This is included in a round frame, also in bronze, decorated around its edge with cherub heads. At the base, we can see the Jerusalem cross. On the back, the traditional handle, in bronze, original, can be reattached in the 17th or 18th century. The whole is in perfect condition. The head of Christ is very finely sculpted. Slight wear on the surface, due to the use of this kiss of peace. Italy, 16th century.
