Magnificent pair of fire pots in chased and gilded bronze, dating from the mid-18th century, representative of the refined taste of the Louis XVI era. Fire pots, also called perfume burners, were emblematic decorative objects in aristocratic interiors of the 18th century. Inspired by antique forms, they were used to diffuse scents in living rooms or adorned fireplaces, consoles and chests of drawers. This particularly elegant model features a classic decoration of finely worked garlands of foliage, punctuated by ram's heads - an iconographic motif dear to neoclassical art, symbol of strength and nobility.
