Oil on canvas mounted on wood in a wooden and gilded stucco frame.
Signature lower right: P. Cariage.
It is in good condition, note some old restorations. The wooden panel is slightly curved.
Very pretty mythological scene representing Cupid who was stung by a bee showing his finger to Venus who consolates him. Painting of very good quality.
Painter represented in several museums in France.

Painter of mythological scenes, landscapes and portraits.
He attended the Besançon School of Fine Arts where he obtained a Grand Prix de Peinture at the age of 15.
Student of the Paris School of Fine Arts with Leon Gérome as professor.
He exhibited at the Salon of 1864 and then participated in the following Salons.
