Pair of three-light candelabras in chased bronze gilded with mercury and patinated bronze. They are decorated with a vestal bearing the arms of lights decorated with phoenix heads and vine branches. The stepped base has acanthus decoration, a column flanked by a mask, busts in term and pearl and interlacing motifs. High quality work attributed to François Rémond. 18th century period circa 1790. François Rémond (1747-1812) Bronze sculptor and gilder, he began his apprenticeship in 1763. In 1774 he became a master in the guild of bronze gilders. A prolific worker, he was considered one of the best gilders and bronze sculptors of his time. He carried out numerous commissions for the famous merchant Dominique Daguerre and worked with Pierre Gouthière.
