Attracted to art and drawing from childhood, MONAKOE joined the Central Saint Martins art school at the age of 18. Quickly tired of advertising design, he left the establishment at the end of the first year and enrolled at the University of the Arts London. Immersed in the intellectual and artistic ferment of London in the 2000s, MONAKOE will from then on use the city as a support for his creativity. Inspired by the graffiti that covers the walls of the city, he will choose the unused advertising panels of the corridors of the London underground to create his drawings and make them visible to the greatest number of people. He is also inspired by vintage characters, The Avengers, the pop atmospheres of Cranaby Street, Boy George. MONAKO is quickly recognized in the pop art scene and his first exhibitions meet with great success.
