"Set Of Two "spion / Spy" Wall Lights By Verner Panton"
A rare pair of "Spion" wall or ceiling lamps, also considered sculptural light objects, designed by the renowned Danish designer Verner Panton in 1971. Manufactured by the original manufacturerFrandsen, as indicated on the authenticity label, these pieces are presented in their original condition. The Spion lamp (which means "spy" in German) consists of a circular base plate made of sheet aluminum, partly polished and partly lacquered in red, designed to be fixed to the wall or ceiling. In the center of this plate is a socket for the bulb as well as a hemispherical reflector that conceals it. The whole is completed by a hemispherical dome made of reflective plastic, the same size as the base plate. When the lamp is off, it blends into the surrounding space and resembles a simple convex mirror. Only when switched on does the light reveal the interior of the lamp through the mirrored dome, thus playing on surprise and discretion - hence its name, Spion.
