Silversmith: François-Alphonse Debain (Paris, active from 1864 to 1894)
Sumptuous pair of solid silver two-light table end candlesticks, Louis XV style, featuring a rich rocaille relief decoration. Each candelabra is composed of a twisted central shaft decorated with shells and foliage, opening into two finely molded sinuous arms, adorned with naturalistic plant motifs.

The removable sockets are decorated with large ribbed leaves and rest on bobeches edged with volutes and falling foliage. The animated circular base takes the form of a cartouche enlivened with projections, gadroons and foliate clasps.
