Story
Lancel is a French leather goods and luxury goods company founded in Paris in 1876 by Angèle and Alphonse Lancel, then developed by their son Albert. The company remained in the hands of the founding family until 1997, when it was bought by the Richemont group. Then, on 1 June 2018, Lancel was acquired by the Italian group Piquadro.
In the early days, Lancel sold pipes and accessories for smokers. The brand then diversified into decorative items and gifts. It commissioned its craftsmen to make a variety of objects, including clocks, goldsmiths’ and silversmiths’ wares, spectacles, barometers, scissors, lamps and table accessories. Lancel holds several patents, including the automatic lighter, the Aviona trunk and the Bambino portable radio.
