""venus In The Bath" After Cg Allegrain. H 61 Cm."
Alabaster sculpture after the work of CG Allegrain, commissioned by the Marquis de Marigny (brother of the Marquise de Pompadour) for the Château de Choisy-le-Roi in 1767. Diderot would say of this sculpture "the most beautiful, the most perfect figure that the moderns have made. Rare, our version made in the 1880s is signed on a rock. Do not confuse our Venus in the Bath with the bather by Falconet very present on the market. Beautiful state of conservation, no accidents to report.
