Important bronze box with two patinas created by the Lerolle Brothers at the end of the 19th century.
Lovely decoration in high relief of poppy flowers and foliage.
This box has a double patina of gold and silver. Inside is a glass cup.
The bronze is very heavy, very thick.
Signature Lerolle Frères on the edge of the base.

Louis Lerolle (1813-1875), sold his house, a bronze foundry, to his sons, Édouard-François and Camille in 1849, which then became Lerolle frères. At the Exhibition of Agricultural and Industrial Products of 1849, they won a silver medal. They participated in the major exhibitions of the second half of the 19th century, notably the Universal Exhibition of 1867. Trained as sculptors, most of their decorative art creations, notably clocks, strongly reflect this taste for the sculptural aspect.
