Watch with centre seconds, Corterbert, late 1960s.The roots of the Cortebert house date back to 1790. On this date, the watchmaker Abraham-Louis Juillard decided to found a company that produced movement pieces in the village of Jura de Cortebert.
He quickly decided to transform his company into a real house producing complete clocks. Only in 1855, under the supervision of Adam-Louis Juillard, the Cortrbert brand will be registered by the Swiss government.
At the end of the First World War, Poland launches a tender to determine the best pocket watch to be used as an official railway watch and is won by Cortebert.
After Poland, Turkey, Serbia and Egypt have also adopted Cortebert watches for the rail system. In the 1970s, Cortebert went bankrupt and was completely absorbed by Perseus with whom it had already cooperated.
