The centaur fighting with a goat, a rare subject, with great finesse in the sculpture.
In Greek mythology, a centaur is a half-man, half-horse creature, said to be descended either from Ixion and Nephele, or from Centauros and the mares of Magnesia.
The most famous of the centaurs is Chiron, immortal and responsible for training young heroes.
