BRIGADE GENERAL'S SWORD, Second Empire. Gilt brass mount. Single-arm guard decorated with the glittering spindle of Jupiter. Oval-shaped handle decorated with the uncrowned imperial eagle resting on a trophy of 6 foot troop flags with the eagle, with two silver-plated stars riveted on each side. Folding counter-handle. Normal action in the mounted or folded position, with the handle pusher pathetically inert. Cap decorated with an imperial eagle with outstretched wings. Tortoiseshell knuckle, with cracks, brass filigree. Straight blade with double fuller with gray patina and traces of oxidation, length 79.8 cm. Tie missing. Black patent leather scabbard with two brass fittings. ABE condition. France. Second Empire.
