Object description :

"18th Century Architect's Table "
Beautiful and rare architect's table called à la Tronchin in reference to the doctor Théodore Tronchin who recommended for his architect patients the use of a table for which the top is inclined according to whether one wishes to be seated or standing, in order to relieve the back of its users.
In solid mahogany , it rests on 4 sheathed legs finished with grooves and opens with a drawer on the front.
The drawer releases a shelf lined with leather, revealing a locker and is decorated with a compartment to receive ink and sand. The top lined with leather unfolds to form a desk and rises by an ingenious mechanism to be able to adjust the height and the direction of use.
On each side of the table is a pull covered with leather.
A French work circa 1780 , Louis XVI period.
