"Oil On Hardboard Signed Déborah Jones Depicting A Busy Street With Shop Fronts"
Deborah Jones is a self-taught painter born in Cardiff, best known for her imaginative shop fronts and trompe-l'oeil works. During the Second World War, she moved to London where she mingled with members of the International Ballet Company. She then developed a passion for theatre, designing and painting sets, producing props and costumes for the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne Opera, the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as for television and cinema. She travelled extensively and exhibited in Italy, (Positano) in the United States (Chicago and New York in 1952) and of course in London (solo exhibition at Liberty's) and Brighton (Florentine Gallery)
