Albert HAMBRESIN (1850-1937) Bust of an oriental woman "JUDITH" Large bronze bust with golden patina, signed and founder's mark "Cie des bronzes, Cire perdue, Bruxelles" Very large model late 19th century early 1900 Height: 72cm Belgian sculptor and statuary, he trained at the Brussels Academy with Eugène Simonis before exhibiting at the Brussels Salon in 1875, 1877, 1878 and 1884. He won second prize at the General Sculpture Competition in 1877. He created five statues for the main facade of the Brussels City Hall as well as three allegories for the inner courtyard and other commissions for the State, including a bronze bust of the architect Louis Van Bodeghem for the Brussels museum. He participated several times in the Belgian Exhibition of Contemporary Art of Philadelphia where he was awarded a bronze medal in 1883. In 1888, he created his masterpiece, "The Family" which was installed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels. He was part of the selection committee at the Universal Exhibition in Chicago with Constantin Meunier. Free and insured shipping in mainland France.
