oil/cardboard by Solange Christauflour representing the old bridge of Bugeat on the Vézère in Corrèze, signed lower left + indications on the back Size of the painting alone 24x33cm and 31x40cm frame included This is therefore a new post-impressionist work by Solange Christauflour who sets up her easel here in Corrèze in Bugeat near the plateau of a thousand cows between Corrèze, Creuse and Haute-Vienne, where she paints an old bridge under which the Vézère flows surrounded by heather. She uses a very typical impressionist touch and a very subtle palette with old pinks, mauves, soft greens, sky blue, browns etc... Obviously, as 9 times out of 10, we observe a certain influence of her master, uncle and adoptive father Fernand Maillaud. A very beautiful work typical of the Crozant school of which she is a part, she remains among the 3 best women painters of this school alongside Clémentine Ballot and Mania Mavro. Solange Christauflour, born on May 1, 1899 in Issoudun and died on November 28, 1952 at her home in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, is a French painter. Daughter of a school director and a sales representative, student of Fernand Maillaud of whom she is the niece and whom he adopts, of Émile Renard, Jean Benner and Henri-Achille Zo, member of the Union of women painters and sculptors and member of the Salon d'hiver, she exhibited in 1929 at the Salon des artistes français the paintings Le Poisson rouge, Le Chemin de Fontauchère (Creuse) and Paysage d'automne en Creuse and obtained an honorable mention there in 1931. Solange Christauflour belongs to the Crozant School movement. In 1950, she donated 10,000 francs to the Society of French Artists to found two prizes of 5,000 francs in tribute to her uncle Fernand Maillaud. She died in 1952 and is buried in the same grave as her uncle and adoptive father Fernand Maillaud in the Black Penitents cemetery in Guéret. This painting on cardboard is in perfect original condition, delivered in an old gilded baguette. Work guaranteed authentic.
