Abstract composition signed Ana Staritsky 1908-1981 Mixed media (collage Watercolor) on paper Anna Staritsky was a Russian (Belgian, French) artist, born in Poltava/Russia in 1908 and died in Paris/France in 1981. She initially created landscapes, flowers and still lifes. In the 1930s, she gradually evolved from a powerful expressionism towards abstraction. In the years 1952-1953, she came into contact with Parisian avant-garde groups. There she became acquainted with the circle around M. Seuphor and the Espaces and Réalités Nouvelles groups. Her graphic work often served as illustrations for luxury publications and texts by Butor and Seuphor, among others. About her abstract work: "No fixed forms, but a movement of forms; no fixed and defined contours, but moving touches captured in the paint paste.
