Silver chatelaine with a key, composed of four elements hinged and linked by rings. Each part features an openwork rocaille-style decoration, illustrating gallant and festive scenes, characters inspired by antiquity, as well as animal and fantastical figures: a drunken faun, a bull, a sea monster, and wild animals.
The main part is hallmarked with a date letter corresponding to the year 1783 (France, 18th century). 19th-century hallmarks—including the boar's head (a small guarantee hallmark for silver) and the crab (a hallmark for small silver works)—are stamped on the key, hooks, and charms.
Length of main part: 13 cm
Maximum width: 5 cm
Total weight: 80 g
Very good condition, without damage.
