In this work, the painter accurately depicts the preparations for a festival, while scattering anecdotal details that underline his belonging to Flanders.Nature is profuse with majestic trees with dense foliage, a river winds through the landscape. In the village square, the inhabitants meet while others arrive aboard small boats.The characters are painted with just a few touches of color.
