"Agnus Dei In Blessed Wax – Pontificate Of Pius XI , 20th Century Relic, Religious Medallion"
Antique Papal Agnus Dei in blessed wax, dated 1922, the first year of Pope Pius XI's pontificate (PIUS XII PONTIFEX MAX. ANNO DI). This rare sacramental was distributed during solemn ceremonies at the Vatican, usually during Holy Week. Made in the ancient tradition, this liturgical object is cast from sanctified Paschal candle wax and decorated with the two emblematic scenes: Obverse: Virgin and Child surrounded by a radiant halo. Reverse: Lamb of God lying on the Book with the seven seals, holding the resurrection cross, with the Latin inscription: "Ecce Agnus Dei qui tollit peccata mundi." Very good condition, with natural patina of the wax. The details are still visible despite the years, and the inscriptions are clearly legible. 7cm high This type of object has not been produced since the Second Vatican Council
