Circa 1900: An Important Syrian Walnut Chest
Syria, late 19th early 20th century: large chest on walnut legs, the panels richly carved with flower braids and prism moldings. The handle is gilded and openwork brass. It opens with a wide panel and has its eclipets, these interior side boxes intended to hold spices, perfumes or precious objects. In very good condition despite a glued and nailed foot, but which does not call into question the stability and solidity of the piece of furniture.
