Round barrel with markings: Mle 1873 on top. Right side S. 1876. Left side X1497.
White polished steel frame marked X. 6-shot cylinder. Single and double action. Control marks.
Trigger guard marked R1 for reformed. Armament door marked P.
Squared wooden stock plates. Bélière ring on piton.
All parts numbered and stamped.
Barrel and chambers in very good condition.

Regulation 1873 revolver, one of 2332 examples of the famous X series (weapons scrapped from arsenals and intended for training).

Article 110 of the official military journal of 1884:
"Each corps is issued, per company, squadron or battery, four firearms of the models in service, to train young soldiers in disassembly and reassembly.
These weapons are part of a special series for each model (the X series); they must never be used for target shooting."
Extract from the regulations:

"The corps receive a certain number of firearms (rifles, carbines, muskets or revolvers) for training purposes. These weapons, which all have the letter X as their serial number, bear neither the manufacture's stamp, nor the director's or controller's hallmarks."
