Paul César Helleu, born December 17, 1859 in Vannes, France, and died March 23, 1927 in Paris, was a renowned French painter and engraver.
He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was quickly noted for his exceptional talent in portraiture and landscape painting.
He specialized in the technique of etching, which earned him great recognition in the artistic circles of his time.
Helleu was also in great demand as a high-society portraitist, counting figures such as the British royal family among his clients.
His works are distinguished by their elegance and finesse, and he is often considered one of the great masters of the Belle Époque portrait.
