Gabriella Crespi (1922-2017) was an Italian designer trained at the Polytechnic University of Milan. She began her career in the 1950s, creating furniture and art objects characterized by geometric and clean lines. Part of the “hippie chic” aesthetic, she regularly used natural materials such as rattan, bamboo, and wicker. She gained notoriety and worked for many famous personalities, from Grace Kelly to the Shah of Iran. In the 1960s, she began a collaboration with the House of Dior, first for the creation of home accessories and tableware, then, from the 1970s, for the production of furniture. From the 1980s, and for almost 20 years, she went on a spiritual retreat in India before resuming artistic collaborations in fashion and design during the last decade of her life.
