Italian Art Déco Sofa Table Solid Iron With Marble Top By Vittorio Ducrot 1920s
Impressive Art Deco iron coffee table/side table with hammered surface and rusty grey marble top.
The legs are exaggeratedly flared and then taper, this movement in the legs gives this heavy iron table a certain lightness despite the heavy materials used.
The rusty grey colour of the waxed iron base harmonizes perfectly with the rusty grey stone with white veining.
The marble top measures 46 x 54 cm and has a brushed surface.
Vittorio Ducrot (1867-1942). Documented in DUCROT Mobili E Arti Decorative - Novecento.
Vittorio Ducrot was born in 1867 in Palermo to a French family. He died in Rome in 1942.
He studied architecture in Switzerland and began his career with the architect Ernesto Basile and the painter Etthore DE Maria Bergler. They notably designed the interior design of the "Palazzo di Montecitorio, Rome" as well as a luxurious Art Deco ocean liner, the "Principessa Mafalda".
