Carlo Pellegrini is an Italian painter, draftsman of the late 19th early 20th century. He was born on October 25, 1866 in Ablese con Cassano in Italy and spent the majority of his active life in Switzerland, notably in the canton of Valais and Grisons. He studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan founded by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. He then completed his training as an autodidact by drawing post-impressionist landscapes from nature. After moving to Geneva in 1900, he began working as an artistic advisor at the publishing house Vouga & Co. Carlo Pellegrini became known for his posters and postcards depicting Swiss landscapes and the winter activities of holidaymakers. He liked to capture the expressions of his characters on the spot. In 1912, during the Stockholm Olympic Games, Carlo Pellegrini took part in the first art and literature competition, winning the gold medal in the painting category with his work: "Winter Sports".
