Francis Carco, of Corsican origin, whose real name was François Carcopino-Tusilo, was born in Nouméa in 1886 and died in Paris in 1958. He also used the pseudonym Jean d'Aiguières. He frequented Montmartre and was a friend of Roland Dorgelès and Pierre Mac Orlan.
