"18th Century French Armchair Upholstered By Hepplewhite"
A fine mid-18th century French Hepplewhite style mahogany upholstered open armchair with scrolled arms on curved legs. This light and refined model, made in the manner of George Hepplewhite, is slender, balanced and curvilinear, with beautiful rope carving around the back. Although French in appearance, the lighter design of this Louis XV form and its generously padded cartouche back are typically English attributes. This armchair is upholstered in vintage Colefax and Fowler silk, decorated with scrolled embroidered oak branches on a tomato striped ground.
