Camille FLERS (1802-1868) cottage and peasants oil on canvas signed lower right47x39cm 61x54cm framed (relined) Camille Flers, born February 15, 1802 in Paris and died June 26, 1868 in Annet-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne)[, is a French painter. He is attached to the Barbizon School. Flers is the eldest of the naturalist school] of 1830. This “romantic-naturalist”, as he calls himself, is one of the first to work on the motif in the forest of Fontainebleau, in Barbizon, where he joins Jacques Raymond Brascassat (1804–1867), Antoine-Louis Barye (1795–1875) or Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps (1803–1860). He lived in Paris only in winter and for seven years. From 1848 onwards, he was considered one of the masters of the realist movement. Camille Flers died in Annet-sur-Marne on June 26, 1868.
