Superb music box by Nicole Frères, featuring a mandolin setting, a highly sought-after configuration in which the comb teeth are struck to produce a crystalline effect, reminiscent of the sound of a mandolin.
The box features imitation wood grain on the sides and a lid decorated with exotic wood marquetry. The interior is lacquered in deep red.
The mechanism is wound with a lever on the left, while control is via three buttons on the right.
The box plays six melodies with a mandolin effect, as indicated on the original tune card.
