Roger Capron, born in Vincennes in 1922 and died in Cannes in 2006, is a French ceramist. Initially interested in drawing, Roger Capron was a student at the École des Arts Appliqués on rue Dupetit-Thouars in Paris from 1938 to 1943, before teaching drawing there from 1945. The discovery of ceramics led him to change medium: on February 6, 1946, he moved to Vallauris, where he created a ceramics workshop, Callis. In doing so, he joined forces with Robert Picault and then Jean Derval in 1948, thus participating in the renaissance of ceramics in Vallauris.
