Wooden Table, Italy, Early 20th Century
Dimensions: L 251 x D 100 x H 81 cm – Maximum length: 342 cm
The solid wood table was crafted in the early 20th century. Inspired by the Neoclassical style, it features a rectangular top that can be extended from both short sides, using two metal pull-out supports per side, discreetly concealed underneath the tabletop. Each side has a matching extension leaf. The main tabletop consists of longitudinal wooden planks with a surrounding edge outlining the perimeter. The extension leaves continue the pattern along the short sides. The tabletop slightly overhangs a smooth apron, which connects to the square-sectioned uprights of the four legs. The imposing legs, adorned with a moulding at the apron’s level, are shaped like inverted pyramidal trunks, tapering slightly towards the base to give the table a more graceful appearance.
