2nd half of the 19th century
This covered baluster vase is called KHABBYA in the typology of Moroccan ceramics.
Made with plain-fired ceramic manufacturing, it has a rich and beautiful stylized geometric and floral decoration (beautiful bright colors in blue, green and yellow on a beige to gray background).
Good general condition.
Lid certainly reported, but which was perhaps not its origanl one.
Glaze jumps on the lid, enhanced with traces of red minium after firing as was traditionally done.
The vase or body of the Khabbya is intact.
Dimensions:
45 cm height with the lid and diameters 30 cm for the vase, 17 cm on the footh base and 18 cm for the lid.
These old Moroccan ceramic pieces are becoming rare to find, often very damaged and / or incomplete.
Please check my other add and pages for another nice khabbya and several others morrocan ceramics.
