Beautiful colorful painting featuring geometric shapes and contrasts forming an abstract work mixing cubism and some art deco aspects. Signed lower left J.Popczyk as well as on the back and the annotation "kompozycja z czarnymi postaciami" which can be translated as "composition with black figures" Oil on canvas circa 1930. In good general condition, in its original condition. Dimensions: 100 x 65 cm Józef Popczyk (1890–1971) was a Polish painter whose work is part of the movements of cubism and Art Deco. Born in Poland, he moved to Paris around 1915, joining many Eastern European artists attracted by the artistic effervescence of the French capital. At first, he adopted an academic style, but evolved in the 1930s towards a cubist aesthetic marked by geometric shapes and compositions fragmented. Popczyk is particularly recognized for his vibrant paintings depicting Parisian nightlife, particularly jazz and club scenes.
