"Malines 1759, Solid Silver, Pair Of Louis XV Sauceboats, Mechelen Silver "
A wonderful and extremely rare pair of Louis XV period sauceboats in solid silver with the hallmark of the city of Mechelen (Malines in French) for the year 1759. Hallmarked by a master silversmith stamping a bunch of grapes. During the nineteenth century, an owner had the neo-Gothic initials ADB engraved on one side of each sauceboat. Inside, there is a gilt that has been quite worn by time.
