These embossed leather harnesses edged with fringes or braids, enhanced with bronze elements, laurel leaves, royal emblems, indicate the rank of the person being transported. Held by nails and soutaches, the central painting is inspired by a drawing of a harnessed horse, intended for a carriage for the coronation of Louis XVIII.
