An English court portrait, bust in profile, of excellent quality and condition, wearing a blue riband, an ostrich-feathered hat, and the Order of the Garter. Frederick was the son and heir apparent of James VI and Queen Anne before his untimely death at 18 from typhoid. He was succeeded by his younger brother, Charles I. An important early and rare court portrait of the young prince, which we are currently fully restoring. Presented in an antique gilt-leaf frame with foliate cassettes.
