"Azulejos, 17th Century."
Beautiful Azulejos plaque depicting a cherub carrying a horn of plenty. The first azulejos made in Portugal in the 17th century were inspired by Dutch blue and white productions which imitated Chinese earthenware which was very fashionable at that time in Europe. The intense blue characteristic of this period was obtained by using cobalt. For this plaque, some old restorations or breakages due to its dismantling from the initial support.
