"Chevrette Italian Majolica Albisole Savona Period XVII Eme Century Earthenware"
Majolica goat with the mark of the trumpet with standard, which would correspond to a factory of Albisole (Cameirana- 1989). This goat is of "naturalist caligraphic" style of type A (Farris-1982), as it presents an exclusively phyto-zoomorphic repertoire (deer, birds, rabbit) in blue and white inspired by imported Chinese models, without addition of Western elements (architecture, human figures). Period 17th century This apothecary goat bears the mention "Syr e succo Ros" for brown sugar syrup, the first colonial commodity at the origin of the triangular trade. My thanks go to the curator of the ceramics museum of Savona, Donatella Ventura, for the bibliographic details. Note, small chips
