"Anemones In A Pot By Charles Monginot 1825-1900"
Very pretty painting on wood measuring 21.5cm x 27cm in very good condition plus period frame a little chipped (which I report so as not to be criticized) 41cm x 37cm signed lower left Anemones in an earthenware pot Painting treated with delicacy and accuracy of tones Charles MONGINOT 1825-1900 Son of a baker, Charles Monginot, noted for his gifts in drawing and painting, was sent to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Thomas Couture. He became friends with Édouard Manet. Monginot led a career as a recognized painter in Paris. He received a medal in 1864 and 1899 at the Paris Salon, mainly producing portraits, still lifes or genre scenes. He maintains links with his region of origin where he died, in Dienville, in 1900. His still lifes are exhibited in many provincial museums and show an elegance of line and a sincerity in realism which are not at all academic. Paintings are kept in the Museums of; Antwerp, Aurillac, Carcassonne, Chartres, Louviers, Metz, Mulhouse, Nancy, Nice, Paris (Musée du Petit Palais), Poitiers, Semur-en-Auxois, Poitiers, Tours, Troyes....free shipping for the European Union
