"Vienna Bronze: Harpist Elf"
Polychrome Vienna bronze, late 19th-early 20th century, representing an elf or gnome playing the harp. He is represented in a very humorous way: his long nose is red and turned up, his very long graying beard and his rounded belly; his eyes raised to the sky and his serious mouth indicate that he is completely absorbed in his art. He wears a long blue cap as pointed as his shoes with turned-up ends; his green coat ends in a sort of pleated skirt. The harp at the top of which is a dog's head seems enormous next to this little man. Made by the Bergman Workshop, this rare model of high quality execution is in good condition; some paint losses in places which in no way detract from the charm of this rare Vienna bronze.
