Felix Vallotton : "the Riot 1893"

Felix Vallotton (1865-1925) "La manifestation" woodcut on thin bistre vellum 23 X 33.5 cm mounted from above on cream vellum and framed with a white and gold "degas" baguette 32 X 43 cm (small accidents).
Monogrammed and titled in the plate, countersigned and numbered 19 (overprinted/crossed out) (out of 100) and bearing the stamp of the "Journal des Artistes", a magazine which was dissolved in 1909.
How modern! When you think that this beautiful proof dates from 1893...
It is one of the most emblematic of the Franco-Swiss Nabi artist who nevertheless produced many and which are among the most beautiful of modern prints...
