Hunt & Roskell were the most prestigious silversmiths of Victorian England, descended from Paul Storr, the most famous of English silversmiths. They were the goldsmiths and jewelers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria and presented a major exhibition at the Great Exhibition of 1851. By 1865, they were considered the largest holders of precious stones in Europe (John Culme, Directory of Gold & Silversmiths, p. 245).
