BICORNED HAT OF THE SUB-PREFECT, full dress, Third Republic.
- In black taupe felt with black moiré silk braid, large cockade in tricolor trimmings, black velvet braid embroidered with laurel and oak leaves mixed in threads, sequins and silver cannetilles, trimmed at the bottom with a half-spherical uniform button in silver-plated brass stamped with a bundle of lictors surrounded by an oak branch and a laurel branch. The upper front part is trimmed with black plumetis. The inner cap consists of a light ochre calfskin band and an ivory silk cap whose bottom is iron-gilded with the maker's name "Donny à Paris". Good general condition, headdress worn. Size 54/55 cm.
