A richly carved 18th century bench with a rattan seat, probably made in the craft district of Batavia in Indie . The bench with beautiful carvings and turnings is made of djati wood. This type of furniture was ordered by colonizers from the Netherlands and England to furnish their homes. The dimensions are, width: 117 cm, height: 83 cm, depth: 62 cm. The rattan has come loose a little at the front of the bench, see photo.
