Victor Raulin (1867-1925) and Baccarat Lustre aux Amours in Chiseled and Gilded Bronze, Louis XV Style

A magnificent and elegant chandelier in finely chiseled bronze, retaining its original gilding, signed by Victor Raulin. This chandelier illuminates with eighteen light arms coiled over two tiers. It is adorned with a chiseled and gilded bronze decor, featuring three fauns on the central stem, three Cupids among the branches, and three women's faces on the lower part. Decorative elements in cut crystal from the Baccarat Crystal Works, such as plaques and stars, complete the ensemble, crowned by a superb crystal ball.

This chandelier is a remarkable example of French craftsmanship in the Louis XV style, created by Victor Raulin around 1890 in collaboration with the Baccarat Crystal Works.

Dimensions:

Height: 45.3 inches

Diameter: 33.5 inches

In excellent condition, this chandelier has been cleaned and retains its original gilding. It is electrified according to European standards, with the possibility of adaptation to American standards upon request.

Victor Raulin (1867-1925):

A cabinetmaker and art bronzier, Victor Raulin worked with his father at 93 rue de Turenne and participated with him in the 1867 Exposition. From 1878 to 1925, he established his workshop at 110 rue Vieille du Temple, then at 209 Boulevard Saint-Germain. He also participated in the Paris World's Fairs of 1878 and 1889, where he won silver medals.

Baccarat:

In 1764, King Louis XV authorized Louis-Joseph de Montmorency-Laval, Bishop of Metz, to establish a glassworks in Baccarat, Lorraine.

In 1824, Ismaël Robinet, a Baccarat glassworker, invented a piston air pump that facilitated glassblowing. The following year, Baccarat developed the pressed-molded technique.

In 1855, Baccarat participated in the first Paris World's Fair, presenting, among other things, two candelabras and a monumental chandelier.

On October 29, 1860, Baccarat registered its trademark with the Paris Commercial Court: a carafe, a goblet, and a glass inscribed in a circle. Initially printed on a paper label, the stamp was later directly engraved on the pieces.

Baccarat is a crystal of exceptional quality, containing at least 31.7% lead, without defects, meeting high standards. The Baccarat Crystal Works has traversed generations while remaining a symbol of the French art of living.
