Tag Heuer Carrera Chrono Automatic Racing Driver's Watch, 1970s, Steel On Leather

Watch belonging to the series of chronographs intended for motor racing, emblematic of the house TAG HEUER. This model, the CARRERA, is one of the most famous racing chronographs. It is an automatic watch equipped with a micro-rotor. In steel, dating from the 70s, it has a superb and rare original blue dial. Its general volume, its slightly barrel shape, and its orange chrono hand make it a very identifiable watch of its time. It has two sub-counters (including one for the constant small seconds) while a "TACHY" measuring scale runs around the dial. A window is also present at 6 o'clock to indicate the date. The push button at the top right allows the start and then the resumption of the chrono measurement, while the one at the bottom allows the reset. The two functions of "simple watch" and chronograph have been distinctly distributed: thus the time-setting crown is unusually located on the left of the case, while the buttons operating the chronograph are on the right...so as to be easily operable in a discipline concerned with high speed.
